Started playing hockey in 1985, aged 25. A late convert to the strange game played by girls with sticks. Little did I know then, how much hockey would influence and change my life! I got my first break thanks to Sue's persistence and Bob King allowing me to debut for the Men's 4th Team. It was great fun and the banter was incredible. Strange now looking back, I have gone full circle and am now playing for Bob's 4th Team in 2018.
As I improved, I was selected for the 3rds and eventually took on 2nd Team Captain's role, to ensure that I got picked. This was the start of 20 odd years of being involved with the running of the Club on the Committee.
Playing wise, I made the first Team aged 30, in those days we played Premier A.
After a few seasons in the 1st Team, I decided that to get a full game, I had to play for the 2nds.
Children came along and the next phase of my hockey career developed- be continued

Began playing hockey aged 11 on the grass pitches at KES and progressed through the ranks to Men's 1st XI at 15. Represented the county at all levels and captaining Norfolk and winning county championship. Played east U21 for 3 years and edged into England U21 for a tournament in Holland. Also played for England B squad before breaking my hand.Played National League for ten years at South Gate HC Won the competition in the first year and had the privilege of going to European Championships in a team with 4 Olympic Gold medallists in the side. Returned to Pelicans just as the Old pitch was finished as player coach. The rest is history as they say. Just now waiting for medicine to provide a solution to my knee so I can get back to playing again.
